I have an apology to make.
Its to America's founding fathers, and the men who fought at Lexington; those who perished at Little Round Top, Mannasas and Gettysburg ; to the men who died on the Bataan march, at Guadalcanal, on the beaches of Normandy and Iwo Jima; ; who bled on the frozen ground at Chosen Reservoir, and Saigon, fighting for freedom around the world.
Its an apology to all the men and women who put on the uniform of this great country, and defended her honor and the basic human rights of oppressed people all around the world.
Its an apology to the Great Statesmen who no longer exist except on the printed page.
And to the exemplary heroes who perished in one of the worst attacks on American soil in our lifetime.
I apologize for this generation of cowards.
I apologize that we've let all you've fought for with your blood and brave deeds slip away with the thoughtless flip of a ballot lever.
Allowing our freedoms - our basic human dignities and rights - to fall into the hands of a small group of idealogues bent on destroying this great country. This after all has happened on our watch.
I apologize for this generation's gutless reaction to the politicization of America's commerce, its exemplary healthcare system; indeed of re-defining what it takes to become a great American.
We've left one country for the levy of outrageous taxes and the stifling of religious worship, only to create another.
Under our watch, illegals have redefined themselves as 'immigrants'; judges and even presidents are voted in not on the content of their character or their great love for this country, but on their skin color. Apologists for America roam the earth, often in the guise of political representation. They make political speeches where they praise our enemy (completely overlooking and under-stating the role extremists have had in murdering men and women for holding hands, or women for operating an automobile without male permission). They condescendingly condemn the very country that gave them birth and sustenance, often on foreign and hostile soil, and yet insist that they too are Patriots.
Under this generation's watch, patriotism has been re-defined as damning your own military while praising a rogue nation's; crippling your own country with paralyzing debt, calling for even more spending, and then telling the country with a straight face that "WE" need to be more fiscally responsible.
Patriotism now means lying about the very organizations that keep you safe at night - while keeping your job.
Stealing from the nation's coffers with impudence and no worry of prosecution.
Re-organizing one of the greatest health care and economic systems on earth right into the ground - while maintaining your own, separate health benefits and your own exorbitant salaries.
It means falsifying records, voting ballots, even funnelling taxpayer money into fraudulent organizations.
It means keeping some television and newspaper organizations right in your back pocket, where they belong, while condemning others that maintain a more truthful balance.
It means vilifying our nation's heroes (like McCarthy, Nixon, Reagan, Palin, Romney, Steele) and spokesmen (like Schlafley, Coulter, Hannity, Limbaugh, Levin, Marlsberg) while lauding your own fifth column that seeks to undermine every American ideal (Frank, Reid, Pelosi, Obama, Murtha, Dodd, Holder, Axelrod, Immanuel, Gibson, Obermann, Williams).
While we slept, honest journalism died. (The only caveat is that mercifully, newspapers and dishonest television stations will soon follow).
While we slept, our politicians did nothing to close our porous borders: shootings, lootings and even disease followed in the wake of this new "citizen of the United States" - impelled not by fevered nationalism but by a strong sense of greed. They filled our jail cells and closed our hospitals after bankrupting them. Gangs roamed our streets with machete's and drugs, and we looked the other way.
While we slept, our politicians voted AGAINST making English the official language: effectively making us a nation of babel. People who now speak only Mandarin, Spanish, Urdu or Hindi insist that WE learn their language, not vice-versa.
I apologize too that this generation has not been more engaged, like the young men and women of the twenties, thirties, forties and even the sixties. While this country has been forced into incredible debt, and unsafely managed by its own 'enemy within', we've been concerned with basketball courts, new puppies, and biceps.
We have let the inmates overrun the asylum, run up enormous debt for future generations, supplanted Milton Friedman's brilliant models of capitalism and the free market system with Socialism (another soft word for Communism) and out of control spending.
While nations threatened us with obliteration, we turned the other cheek. We slapped our friends around the world, and bowed and scraped to our enemies.
We have taken more interest in a Calvin Klein billboard than we do in the fact that our banking and credit card systems, our car industry, and soon our airwaves have been taken over by partisans whose love for this country may be measured in thimbles while every move they make is calculated to help 'the Party' and NOT (not ever) their constituents.
Isn't it telling how our real leaders - McCarthy, Goldwater, Buckley, Nixon, Reagan, Bush - have always been vilified, while those who work against the country and feed only their special interest groups (Obama, Holder, Immanuel, Reid, Frank, Pelosi, Clinton, Gore) are praised?
Isn't it interesting that the last 8 years has shown an increasingly colder climate, while our young President insists that global warming is no longer debate-able, and that NEW TAXES will soon follow to help stem this tide of "warmth" ?
While I personally have never voted against my country , I feel we all owe our Founding Fathers a great apology for not doing more to hold on to the freedoms they fought and died for. Freedoms that this generation has taken for granted. And let's face it, we will never hear an apology from our simpler half ; someone has to step up to the plate.
We do not ALL have an entitlement mentality. Some people think that pulling themselves up by their bootstraps and feeding their family through the sweat and ingenuity of their own brow is a great and noble thing. It's the American way.
And then there are others: much more devious, divisive, grubbing.
"Ask not what your country can do for you," another young President once began.
How soon we have all forgotten.
